'BABS
A curve ball pick from Euan this week on, Dragging
My Friends To Dinner.
When given the choice of something different that didn’t involve
burgers or pizza, ‘BABS was the winner.
‘BABS serves up Greek,
Turkish and Levantine street food, which is also pretty insta-worthy ngl. Inside,
the place ticks all the boxes: pretty décor, good atmosphere and nice staff As a
self-declared ‘gourmet kebab house’ you wouldn’t suspect veganism to make it onto
their menu… however you’d be wrong.
To start off I got an Aperol spritz, and I know it ain’t
summer, but sorry everyone I couldn’t turn down one for a mere £6.50. Euan
got a two pint beer jug for myself… “more cost-effective yano.”
The vegan steak shish is the only vegan option on their
current menu, so there was high hopes that it would be a decent one at that.
Happy to report it most definitely was.
Initially looking at it:
- WOW that pink hummus. Euan the carnivore actually admitted that my vegan meal looked better than his.
- It doesn’t look like it’d be that filling - it’s basically was just vegan steak, veg and beetroot hummus. But no. It turned out to be the perfect amount of food.
Euan ordered the lamb shish, and on the side we got pita bread
(which was included) and fries. Safe to say we both thoroughly enjoyed our meal
having finished the lot, and receiving a strong 8/10 from me. As a hummus lover
(but I mean who isn’t), that with the pita bread was always gonna be a winner in
my books.
‘BABS, for the most part, satisfied the health freak in me, without
comprising on taste or being a salad, as it turned out to be a pretty healthy-ish
meal out. No shame in regular visits either everybody as it’s also pretty reasonably
priced so won’t break the bank. Another recommendation to add to the list.
Again, till next week folks. Cya :)
Great article, must try this venue on my next trip to Glasgow :)
